Texas Hell Week - Day 6: Wine and #9

Wasn't up for the 100 miles today, so did the scenic "Wine and #9" route that took us past a winery and the "bat cave" (an old tunnel from which bats emerge every night during the summer). 69 miles at a leisurely 16.8 mph. Temps close to 80, sunny skies. Narrowly avoided a crash though. A group got sketchy negotiating a dry water crossing, and a cyclist got in the way of a tandem. There was a taco'd wheel and the tandem stoker went down pretty hard, but to serious injuries. Ironically, I had just been musing about my crash last year and whether I wanted to race on the road this year. A sign?
