Defense Department's inspector general: Pentagon manipulated prewar intel

This is not shocking news to anyone but a few right-wingnuts, but the admission by the Defense Department means no one can deny it any longer. 3,000 American lives, a huge loss of credibility and support in the world, massive hit to our economy and deep cuts to programs for the most vulnerable, misappropriated resources that could have been used to actually help protect us against terrorism instead of breeding a new generation of terrorists - all because we were lied to. Again I ask, why? What is Bush getting out of this pillaging of our country? Was it really just about fostering fear to win elections?
