Category 6 outlaws get reeled in by the law

Today was the first Sunday team ride this year that had a full contingent and someone who knows the meandering route through Wayzata/Orono?Exclesior etc. This ended up being a 'pimps & ho's' ride, with DS's girlfriend Jonica and a new rider and his girlfriend. It was a really laid back ride, a couple of sprints and a couple of accelerations but pretty mellow. As we're making a left turn (and signalling as we always do), we notice a cop behind us. This isn't unusual, we'd been passed by another earlier in the ride. This Orono cop decides to pull us over though, and hassles us about 'obstructing traffic.' This is crazy, because we were riding no more than two abreast on the right side of the road. We all knew we were doing nothing wrong, so a couple of us protested, but there's no arguing with cops and their egos. The funniest things, though, were when the cop went to his squad car and had me read the bicycling statues, which I knew very well. I skipped straight to the part that said cyclists were to ride no more than two abreast, after which the cop stopped hassling us about riding two abreast, and continued with the 'obstructing traffic' angle. Although he talked blustery, he didn't want to bring us in, and we just wanted to ride, so Little D smoothed things over and we went on our way. The sweetest part was that DS got a stealth picture of us with the cop - look for it soon on the Cat 6 website!
