Fort CrossMax LE initial impressions

Good:

  • Derailleur cable pulley - no more incapacitated front derailleur!
  • Nice graphics - understated but unique yellow and glossy 'wet' paint (not powdercoated from the looks of it), clearcoated
  • Flattened top tube - for easier shouldering
  • No bottle bosses - this is a real 'cross bike, not a jack-of-all-trades (master of none)!
  • Top tube cable routing - duh!
  • Pre-faced head tube and bottom bracket (drivetrain side only for some reason) - nice
  • Rear brake cable hanger/bridge - why doesn't everyone do this?
  • Shaped down tube - no, it's not for aerodynamics, it gives mud less to stick to and stiffens the front end
  • Beefy stays - hopefully none of this!
  • Alpha Q fork - enough said!
  • High bottom bracket - again, this is a real 'cross bike, able to ride over dirt piles at Powderhorn and the velodrome (next year?) without catching a pedal!

Not good:

  • Cable routing at 12 o'clock - 2 o'clock would be more out of the way
  • Stuck on front badge - looks nice, but it was already starting to peel off a bit

Pretty minor quibbles, and otherwise a strong package for the money! Can't wait to build it up! Full review here.
