TT DFL

Ugh, I don't remember what blogger said this, but I feel the same way about time trials: in the race of truth, I'm a liar. Drew was kind enough to loan me his clip-on bars, which helped because it was windy. But I didn't have my wheel magnet set so I had no clue where I was in the race. At least the HR monitor was working so I had an idea of the work I was doing. But what turned out the be the last leg was horrible - imagine railroad tracks every 15 feet. BAM! put ass back on seat, hands back on bars, start rolling again BAM! repeat BAM! repeat. Of course subconsciously when you're approaching these huge cracks across the road you let up on the pedals and brace yourself, hardly conducive to a time trial effort. And there was no escaping them no matter what side of the road we'd ride! I was extremely annoyed and gave up on trying to push myself and tried to just survive. Toward the end I figured out that it wasn't as bad if I got down in the drops instead of in the aero bars, but it was too late by then. Good for DFL it looks like.
__I'm here sharing a condo with a bunch of Birchwoodies, and Alix scored a loaner TT bike, nothing less than a BMC TT02! Sweeter than sweet. I want one.
__No road race tomorrow - I'm not up for getting dropped and doing another TT tomorrow. I'll do a nice long ride then do the crit on Monday. It will be my first 'real' crit of the season, and I'm looking forward to it. Except for the part about racing with the Cat4s. But really, I raced against Cat4s last year too, so it won't be much different.
