New 'war czar'

So apparently Bush was so desperate to find someone willing to take the position of White House 'war czar' that he chose Army Lt. Gen. Douglas E. Lute, a critic of the 'surge' in Iraq. At least five four-star generals refused to be considered. This is interesting because Bush usually taps unquestioningly loyal lightweight puppy-dogs for such positions. Lute has also stressed what the experts are saying, namely, that Iraq needs a diplomatic and political solution, not a military one.
__As one of the other generals said: "I wish the guy luck ... He's got his work cut out for him."
