Granogue!

(Photo from cyclingnews.com) This Saturday is the Verge MAC Cyclocross Series race at the Granogue Estate in Delaware. This will be a special race for several reasons. First, it's an epic venue, right there with Gloucester (and equally tricky to pronounce!). Second, the women's race will be a first ever showdown between defending champion Katie Compton, mountain bike champion Georgia Gould and USGP champion Lyne Bessette. Even more inspiring is Katie's story. She's sacrificed her own professional career to be the sighted pilot of a Paralympics tandem team with Karissa Whitsell. This means no UCI races, which means she gets no call-up at the national championship and has to battle her way through the back of the field to win, which she's done the last two years. Lyne Bessette and her husband Tim Johnson have been dominating so far this season. And Georgia not only warms up with the 'B' men like Lyne before her race, she also beats them! It's sure to be an exciting race. Oh, that's a nice bike she's riding eh? (It's the same Trek XO1 I ride, in case you can't see it through the MUD.)
