Interestingly, the most useful article I've read about Floyd's amazing trip through the Alps was not in Velonews or Cyclingnews, but in a NYT article in the Star Tribune. The article talks about what happened physiologically from Allen Lim's perspective - the team's physiologist. A good read if you like a taste of the science behind things.
__An interesting aside from the article: "Before cyclists began adopting illicit methods for boosting their levels of oxygen-rich red cells during the 1990's, such events were so common that French riders called them "jours sans," or "days without." During this year's Tour, which saw several favorites excluded because of doping investigations, jours sans have made something of a comeback."
